Fast-growing hotel company plans Memphis location
StayAPT Suites, which opened its first hotel in October 2020, is listed as the applicant on a Memphis & Shelby County Land Use Control Board application. It calls for a 76-room hotel at 1630 Chickering Lane, just behind the Kroger on Germantown Parkway.
StayAPT's longterm company plans call for more than 100 corporate-owned hotels and more than 200 franchised properties, which will each contain between 59 and 87 rooms, according to its website.
The brand's hotels are primarily marketed for longer-term stays, with each suite coming with a dedicated living room, separate bedroom and a full kitchen.
"We believe that being away from home shouldn’t mean having to sacrifice all of its comforts — that’s why each 500+ square-foot suite has a distinct living room with a sleeper sofa, a lounge chair, and a 55-inch television; a kitchen with a full-size stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, and refrigerator; and a separate bedroom with a walk-in closet, separate TV, and workspace," the company's website says.
Since opening its first hotel in North Carolina in October, the company has opened three more throughout the South. Its website lists an additional 16 as either "opening soon" or "coming soon," not including the Memphis location.
Gill Properties' Barry Maynard and Frank Dyer III are representing StayAPT in its acquisition of sites in the region.
