Former East Memphis Houston’s bought
The former Houston’s restaurant building located at 5000 Poplar Ave. was bought for $2.1 million Friday, Nov. 7, by a regional developer-managed company.
Phoenix-based Hillstone Restaurant Group Inc., which owns the Houston’s concept, sold the 7,500-square-foot building to 5000 Poplar LLC, according to the Shelby County Register of Deeds.
5000 Poplar LLC was formed in October and is “manager-managed,” according to a Tennessee business-entity search. Walker Huey signed a deed of trust as the company's manager.

Houston’s restaurant closed in December 2024 after more than 40 years of operation. The company cited public safety and staffing issues as the reason for closure.
